TAYLOR — Cocaine was concocted in a guest room at the Red Roof Inn, 21230 Eureka Road, and reported Nov. 1 by a desk clerk and a maintenance worker.
Staff provided surveillance camera footage of the suspected guest chemist, a 41-year-old Redford Township man, who is also seen on surveillance camera footage handing off a backpack to a visitor.
Inside the guest room was a jar with a crystalline substance, which later tested positive for cocaine. There was also an empty box of baking soda in the room, which is commonly used as a cutting agent for cocaine.
