MELVINDALE — A 43-year-old Lincoln Park woman was charged with operating under the influence of drugs and possession of alcoholic liquor in a motor vehicle after she was found passed out behind the wheel at the intersection of Oakwood Boulevard and Allen Road.
Police officers found the woman in her car, unconscious but breathing, with the vehicle in drive and her foot on the brake. They opened the car door, put the vehicle in park and woke up the driver.
The woman was confused and disoriented, and had dried blood on her mouth. She said she had been assaulted by someone in Allen Park and was trying to get away from them.
She had alcohol on her breath, and admitted to drinking earlier. She failed standardized field sobriety tests, but her preliminary breath test was under the limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
However, her pupils were dilated, so she was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs. She agreed to a blood draw.
Her car was searched before being impounded and towed, and an open bottle of alcohol was found.
She was taken to Corewell Health Hospital for a blood draw, and her driver’s license was confiscated.
