RIVERVIEW — A Riverview man reported Dec. 19 that on Dec. 6 a Verizon account was opened fraudulently in his name, with an Apple iPhone 16 purchase, then two days later three more cell phones were purchased and added to the account.
He said he received a $136 bill for the account for the first iPhone. The victim said the charges would be about $4,800 for the four cell phone purchases.
The complainant said he had filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, and he had initiated a fraud claim with Verizon.
