TAYLOR — A woman who runs a cleaning service reported Feb. 6 that she was paid in advance of services with a fraudulent business check that caused her financial institution to freeze her account.

The victim said the job for which she was being paid in advance was for cleaning a rental property in Dearborn. The customer claimed the check was legitimate and he was not trying to scam her, but the check still had not cleared.
