DEARBORN – The Dearborn Public Library will temporarily close Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Ave., from April 21 to 23 for necessary infrastructure improvements.
The facility is scheduled to reopen for regular business hours on April 24.
This scheduled closure will allow for a comprehensive electrical overhaul. Crews will be connecting a new underground power line to the building, replacing electrical transformers at both ends of the facility, and installing new internal breaker panels. These upgrades will ensure the long-term reliability and safety of the library’s power systems.
To accommodate patrons during the HFCL closure, the Bryant Branch Library, 22100 Michigan Ave., will offer extended hours:
• April 21 to 23, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• April 24, Bryant Library returns to regular hours (closed Fridays).
• April 25, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Access to Materials
• Holds Pickup: All patron holds scheduled for pickup at HFCL, including MeLCat holds, will be temporarily transferred to the Bryant Library for the duration of the closure.
• HFCL Lockers & Returns: The holds pickup locker at HFCL will remain available during the closure. The HFCL drop box will also remain open for returning materials.
Programming Changes
Several programs originally scheduled for HFCL have been relocated or rescheduled:
Relocated to Bryant Library (Main Floor):
• Family Storytime, 10:30 a.m. April 21.
• Best Sellers Book Club, 6:30 p.m. April 21 (First Floor).
• Baby Storytime, 10:30 a.m. April 22.
• DIY Seed Balls: Now a Grab & Go Craft, kits available for pickup at Bryant Library.
Relocated to Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.:
• Master Rain Garden Class, 5 to 8 p.m. April 22 in the Art Activity Room.
Rescheduled Date:
• Get Crafty Adults: Poetry Magnets: Originally April 23, this event is moved up to 6 p.m. April 16 in the SparkLab at HFCL.
