HEIGHTS — A man who attempted to sell a $2,000 watch on Facebook Marketplace reported April 27 that the purchaser took possession of the item but the electronic cash payment never came through.
The victim said that the buyer claimed that he had reached his weekly Cash App limit, but that he would pay him using a bit coin app. The buyer then showed him a confirmation screen that seemed to indicate that the payment had been sent, and claimed it would take time to process. The man then left with the watch.
The victim never received a bit coin transfer. The buyer agreed to come with cash, but even though the seller waited two hours, the man was a no-show. He described the suspect as a 25-year-old tattooed male.
