TAYLOR — A man reported May 5 that two of his Social Security checks, collectively valued at $1,200, were stolen and fraudulently cashed by an unknown person.
The victim said he reached out to government officials and discovered that two of his July checks were cashed by an unauthorized, unknown person.
He said that because he lives in an apartment complex, he thinks his check might have been put in the wrong mailbox, which allowed someone else access to it.
The victim provided the police officers with a copy of one of the forged checks.
