TAYLOR — A mother and daughter domestic assault May 18 may have been related to alcohol and drug consumption by the daughter, which could have triggered her aggressive behavior.
At 4:11 a.m. May 18, the younger woman was found partially nude and wandering near Polk and Champaign streets, allegedly trying to find her boyfriend, and was given a ride to her own residence.
When police later arrived at the residence in the 20000 block of Champaign Street at 5:43 a.m., the woman’s mother reported that she was destroying items in the home and assaulting her.
The daughter accused her mother of stealing her phone and hiding her boyfriend.
Her mother said her daughter is addicted to alcohol, and uses prescription Prozac as well.
The mother said the daughter tried to grab her hair, and threw a full, unopened pop can at her, hitting her head. There was an abrasion visible on her cheek. She showed some inconclusive cell phone video of the alleged assault.
The mother said she did not want to press charges, but said she wanted her daughter, who was suicidal, to get treatment for mental health issues.
The daughter, who would not answer questions, was taken into custody, and domestic violence paperwork was filed.
