DEARBORN – Motor City living comes with an appreciation for classic cars, and Motor Muster at Greenfield Village provided plenty June 20 to 21, featuring vehicles built from 1933 to 1978.
Whether one appreciated the pre-World War II luxury cars on the village green or the newer muscle cars with their engines proudly displayed in other areas of the park, there was plenty of power and chrome to admire.
Older cars, those built from the 1890s to 1932, will be on display Sept. 12 and 13 during the Old Car Festival.
Classic cars passed in review on Main Street at the Main Stage, with focus this year on automobiles from 1965, a year that saw many changes in the American way of life, including the passage of the Voting Rights Act. It was a year when Ford Mustangs were in high demand, and Ralph Nader called attention to motor vehicle safety with “Unsafe at Any Speed.”
Motorcycles, motor scooters and bicycles were also on display, with baby boomers looking at the banana seat bikes with fond memories.
Historic baseball offered a car distraction as well as a glimpse at old time rules June 20 as the home team, the Lah-De-Dahs, played the Northville Eclipse in Walnut Grove.
