TAYLOR — A man who was subject to a traffic stop June 8 for speeding in a construction zone on I-94 initially provided a false name to a police officer, which led to a more thorough investigation.
When he initially gave the police officer an identification card with the photo of a person that looked younger than him, he gave an age that did not match the identification card.
When the police officer ran the vehicle registration, a photo of the vehicle owner matched the driver, who had multiple misdemeanor arrest warrants from neighboring jurisdictions.
When questioned, the man admitted that he lied about his name because his driver’s license was suspended.
He was handcuffed and placed in the back of a squad car while his vehicle was searched. The police officer found five wallets with credit cards and identification cards that did not match the name of the driver, a black ski mask, and loose identification cards and credit cards that did not belong to him.
The vehicle console contained $259 in small bills, including $79 in $1 bills, which, along with the identification cards, was consistent with someone committing larceny from vehicles.
The man was arrested and taken to the Taylor police station for booking, and his vehicle was impounded and towed.
