Identity thief files tax return using woman’s Social Security number

TAYLOR — A woman reported June 25 that her 2025 tax return was rejected because another person had already filed a return using her Social Security number. 

She was then advised by the state of Michigan and the Internal Revenue Service to file a police report. She did so, and provided a copy of her 1040 tax return and other relevant paperwork.
