ALLEN PARK – Outgoing Police Chief Eron Feltz introduced incoming Police Chief Jason Dobbertin during the Aug. 11 city council meeting, at which time he was sworn in and received his chief’s badge.

Dobbertin is the city’s 14th police chief.

Feltz said Dobbertin, who joined the department in 2007, has served in almost every role in the department.

“Jason’s journey to this moment is defined by service, dedication and leadership at every single level,” he said. “He’s been a field training officer, guiding our newest recruits; a range instructor, ensuring our skills remain sharp; a detective, solving complex cases; and for the past two years, the detective bureau lieutenant, leading our investigative efforts with distinction.”

Feltz said Dobbertin’s leadership skills go beyond tactical expertise and extend to the department’s personnel.

“He has always cared deeply for the people who make this department run,  serving as president of both the patrol union and the lieutenants and sergeants union, proving early on that he is a leader who listens, advocates, and unites,” he said. “When he was promoted to sergeant in 2019, and lieutenant in 2023, he brought that same people-first mentality with him.”

Feltz said Dobbertin is deeply respected by his fellow officers and the community at large.

“He is a leader of integrity, a trusted colleague, and someone who will undoubtedly continue to move this department forward,” he said. “As I step down, I know the Allen Park Police Department is in the best possible hands.”
