TAYLOR — A man with five prior Operating While Intoxicated convictions was taken into custody the night of Sept. 20 after he drove a borrowed red 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan onto a random suburban lawn and passed out on the resident’s porch.

A third and subsequent OWI offense is considered a felony.

The man, who had been drinking beer, said he also had Norco, Ambien, Seroquel and a muscle relaxant in his system.

When police officers arrived, the man displayed slurred speech, was disoriented, and had bloodshot, drowsy eyes. He was unable to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and was unable to follow instructions to complete a preliminary breath test.

He was transported to Taylor Corewell Health Hospital, where a voluntary blood draw was performed to determine what was in his system.

The vehicle was impounded and towed. The man’s driver’s license had previously been revoked.

He was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Drugs.
