RIVERVIEW – A program orientation for volunteers interested in creek water sampling and monitoring will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. March 28 at Riverview Veterans Memorial Library, 14300 Sibley Road.

Sponsored by the Alliance for Downriver Watersheds, the group seeks volunteers for spring and summer sample collection from the waterways which flow into the Detroit and Huron rivers, and Lake Erie.

The orientation will introduce volunteers to the water sampling goals of the group, as well as the water quality sampling methods, and will cover sampling techniques, direct measuring of water chemistry, estimating creek flow and program logistics.

In the weeks following the orientation, hands-on field sample training will take place Downriver.

The chemistry and flow monitoring program, coordinated by the Huron River Watershed Council, is part of the Alliance of Downriver Watersheds.

To register for the orientation, go to hrwc.org/chemflow. Contact Andrea Paine, Watershed Planning Associate, at 734-769-5123, Ext. 613 or [email protected] for more information.
