Free Parent University classes offered for parents and their infants or toddlers

By KATIE HETRICK For the Times-Herald Parents are every child’s first teachers, and Dearborn Public Schools is offering some free lessons for those teachers. Parent University will run on Feb. 24 and March 3. Identity thief opens credit card account

Dearborn Schools moves January meeting to Jan. 10

DEARBORN — The Dearborn Schools Board of Education reorganizational and regular meeting for January has been moved to Jan. 10. The meeting is also being moved up to 6:30 p.m. The meeting was originally scheduled for Jan. 9, but that is the first day students and most staff are back after the two-week holiday break. The extra day will give administrators and staff a bit more time to prepare for the board meeting. Dearborn Schools on track to invest nearly $100 million in buildings over 2 years

By KATIE HETRICK For the Times-Herald DEARBORN — Dearborn Public Schools is on track to spend close to $100 million on capital improvements to its buildings over two fiscal years. That total includes $55 million directly from federal COVID-19 relief funding through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief fund. The district also used ESSER funding to offset other allowed expenses, which freed up another $35 million in district funds to invest in capital improvements.
