Lincoln Park Birthday night ends in burglary for couple A resident of the 2100 block of Progress returned home with his wife just before 2 a.m. last Sunday from a celebration of her 30th birthday to find that their house had been burglarized. Two flat-screen television sets were among the items taken, along with a computer and monitor with a combined value of $800, a $400 DVD surround sound set, a $600 video game console and several jewelry items. Allen Park Purse goes missing A purse and medication box were stolen from a house in the 9200 block of Chatham while the owner walked to the store at 1 p.m. Monday. She left the items in her living room and cannot remember if she locked her doors. The purse contained $240. Dearborn Jewelry store customer turns out to be crook A man pretending to be a shopper stole a $6,300 diamond ring July 2 from an unsuspecting M J Diamond employee in Fairlane Town Center, 18900 Michigan. The employee said she was holding the ring in her hand when something distracted her, giving the man an opportunity to snatch it away. Lincoln Park Sleeping man can’t keep eye on car keys A resident in the 900 block of Garfield unwittingly invited the theft of his dark blue 1999 Ford Expedition early last Sunday. The man told police it was too hot to sleep in his house because his air conditioner had broken, so he and his girlfriend got into the sport utility vehicle and pulled it into the alley and fell asleep with the engine running. Allen Park   Doors taken   A screen door and a fence gate were stolen from a house in the 14000 block of LeBlanc sometime between 5 p.m. March 18 and 4 p.m. March 21.   The owner, who recently bought the house, did not find any pry marks on the front door or the side door, but a screen on a window on the rear of the house was bent slightly. Allen Park Woman’s pocket picked   A woman’s checkbook was stolen out of her purse at 10 p.m. March 8 while she was shopping at Meijer, 3565 Fairlane.   She was in the frozen food section when another woman began to talk to her. Allen Park   Jeep stolen   A 1999 Jeep Cherokee was stolen while it was parked outside TJ Maxx, 3320 Fairlane.   The owner entered the store at 1 p.m. Jan. 31 and returned 20 minutes later to find the Jeep missing. There were no signs of forced entry. Allen Park   Red paint thrown, tires ruined   Two front tires of a 1997 GMC box van were flattened sometime between 4 p.m. Jan. 11 and 9 a.m. Monday while it was parked in a driveway in the 15000 block of Cleophus.   The owner found the tires flattened and two plastic bags filled with red paint on his front porch.   Both bags had been thrown at the house, causing the paint to splash on the vinyl siding.
