Rec softball program has over 160 teams
By Daniel Gretzner It takes a good supervisor and coordinator to make sure more than 160 softball teams are scheduled for play during the Dearborn Recreation Department summer season. Two of the most important individuals who make this happen are Michale Jamieson Timiney, sports/facility supervisor and Brian Haddad, softball field & maintenance coordinator. By Daniel Gretzner Dearborn Heights Annapolis High School played three Division 2 baseball tournament games during the past week, winning both of their regional games, before falling in the state quarterfinals. The Cougars captured the Livonia Ladywood regional crown Saturday by posting shutouts over Detroit Renaissance (1-0) and Ferndale (3-0). They were not as fortunate when they squared off with tournament favorite, St. Clair, losing to them in the quarterfinals 10-0 at Novi. Divine Child star drafted by Indians
By Daniel Gretzner Eric Haase, who has had a sensational season at Dearborn Divine Child, was selected in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft last week. The DC catcher has signed with Ohio State on a athletic scholarship, giving him a possibility of playing college ball or heading for the professional ranks. Haase was one of nine seniors on the Falcon varsity roster and can also play third base and pitch.
