Library to host talk about growing grains on a small scale for home, community gardens

  DEARBORN – Dearborn Public Library will host Scott Hucker of Great Lakes Staple Seeds for a virtual talk about raising grains in home gardens at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 via Zoom. Hucker will go through a growing season step by step, sharing his personal experience with growing these diverse and versatile staple crops: wheat, barley, oats, rice, sorghum, triticale, millet, and amaranth. Primary election sets up November races

Wayne County to resume household hazardous waste collection days

Wayne County will resume its quarterly large scale household hazardous waste collection efforts during events scheduled for August and October. Upcoming waste collections are:  • Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Second Ebenezer Church 14601 Dequindre St., Detroit.  • Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wayne County Community College District, 21000 Northline Road, Taylor. First responder radio stolen

Windshield shattered

By SUE SUCHYTA Sunday Times Newspapers TRENTON — The windshield of a 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk was reported shattered the afternoon of July 20 while it was parked on an undisclosed residential street.  The damage occurred between 1 and 5 p.m. while the nearby residence was unoccupied. The vehicle was parked under a tree, but no limbs or branches appear to have caused the damage.
