Heights man charged with stabbing his dog
By ZEINAB NAJM Times-Herald Newspapers HEIGHTS — Daniel Rooney, 29, of Dearborn Heights was charged with torturing or killing an animal after he allegedly stabbed his dog on April 23. Rooney was in 20th District Court on June 18 for his arraignment when he was given a $2,500 bond and is currently in Wayne County Jail. If convicted he faces up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine. DHPD installs new reserve officer
HEIGHTS – The Police Department recently welcomed its newest reserve officer, Martin Crandall. Crandall recently completed the Schoolcraft College 14-week Police Reserve Academy, resulting in his certification, and is now ready to serve as a certified (sworn) reserve officer. In addition to his police reserve activities, Crandall also serves as a member of the city’s ACT 78 Civil Service (Police & Fire) Commission.
