Allen Park Purse grabbed A purse containing checks, credit cards and $500 cash was stolen from a 62-year-old woman unloading her car at 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. The car was parked in the driveway of her house in the 17000 block of Moore. A man grabbed her from behind, placed an unknown object against her right temple, and told her to get to the ground. He then fled north on Allen Road with her purse. The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and with a thin build. Traffic stop may net $1.2 million

About 7 p.m. July 7 they seized approximately $1.2 million from a semitruck near I-75 and Schaefer. The truck was stopped due to faulty lighting, and police suspect the money is from an alleged drug money transfer going from Detroit to Arizona. Famed Downriver boxer dies
MELVINDALE — Former Kronk Gym boxer Mickey Goodwin died of a stroke earlier this week. Goodwin, 51, was found dead at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the house he shared with his mother. At first it was believed that he had died from a beating, but an autopsy revealed he suffered a stroke and fell down the stairs. Goodwin was trained by Kronk founder Emanuel Stewart and was a big draw for the gym.
