Deadly car crash with train kills driver, passenger

By SUE SUCHYTA Sunday Times Newspapers TRENTON – A crash at 2:15 a.m. Jan. 19 killed a man and woman when the driver, who may have disregarded the gates, struck a southbound train while eastbound on Van Horn. Officer uses kayak to rescue woman from SUV sinking in Detroit River

Stephen Lyons saved the life of a 53-year-old Taylor woman Dec. 17, using a kayak to rescue her from a rapidly sinking SUV in the Detroit River. Trenton JV hockey team wins state championship

By SUE SUCHYTA Sunday Times Newspapers TRENTON – The Trenton JV Prep hockey team was honored at the City Council meeting Monday for its 2-1 victory over Plymouth that earned it the Great Lakes Prep Hockey League state Championship March 15 at Farmington Hills Ice Arena. Earlier in the tournament the team defeated Novi Detroit Catholic Central 5-1. To advance to the finals, the team tied 3-3 with Northville March 14, then scored a 5-2 win over Hartland and a 5-3 win over Lakeland.
