DEARBORN – The Senior Services Division – part of the Recreation Department – is offering several activities for senior citizens.
Except where otherwise noted, they will be held in the senior citizen services area of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.
Drop-in volleyball – Offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays for adults age 50 and older. Advance registration is required. To register call (313) 943-3342. The fee is $3 per visit for city residents.
Senior swim classes – Classes meet at 9 and 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Advance registration is required and can be made by calling (313) 943-3342.
Biography Book Club – This new club meets at 1 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. The club will discuss one book per month. Register in advance by calling (313) 943-2412.
City of Dearborn Senior Citizen Transportation – Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation service for residents age 60 or older. Seniors must schedule trips at least four days in advance.
Transportation service is curb-to-curb within the city limits. The fee is $1 one way or $2 round trip. The service is available from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. All vehicles are wheelchair-accessible.

Spanish for Seniors – This interactive class meets at 10 a.m. Thursdays through Feb. 26. The emphasis is on conversation, with vocabulary and phrases for use in everyday life. Class fee is $64; the learning packet costs $12. For more information call (313) 943-2412.
Dearborn Senior Walking Club – Meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the indoor running track. Check-in is from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Walk the track from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Members set personal goals and record mileage. Membership is open to Dearborn senior citizens. Chair Exercise Class – Classes are at 10 a.m. Mondays and Fridays. The benefits of toning, stretching and cardiovascular workouts are featured. The fee is $5 per month for each class. For details call (313) 943-3342.
Arthritis Exercise Class – Meets Wednesdays at 11:15 a.m. Gentle, joint-safe exercises have been developed specifically for people with arthritis. Movements are designed to help relieve stiffness and decrease arthritis pain. The low-impact class can be taken either sitting or standing. The fee is $7 per month. Hearing Loss Association of America, Dearborn Chapter – For hearing-impaired people who help each other to learn to cope, grow, change thinking about hearing loss and to appreciate abilities. Quickstart tennis – Features a modified court size, balls and scoring system. The Dearborn Community Tennis Association supplies balls and instructors.
