HFCC appoints two new directors to Foundation Board

March 3, 2009 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Henry Ford Community College recently announced the appointment of two new directors to the HFCC Foundation Board of Directors.

Nabil H. Fakih of Dearborn Heights and James P. Allen Sr. of Detroit will serve three-year terms on the Board, which is comprised of 26 community and business leaders who provide oversight and support for HFCC’s private fundraising efforts.

Fakih, a registered pharmacist, is sole proprietor of Dearborn Heights Pharmacy on Ford Road and owns and operates four additional pharmacies in Canton, Redford, Novi and Westland. He is a graduate of HFCC and the Eugene Applebaum School of Pharmacy at Wayne State University.

He and his wife, Dr. Mona Fakih, have two children. His community and professional activities include serving on the Civil Rights Commission of Dearborn Heights and as a member of the Michigan Pharmacists’ Association. He also is founder of the Arab-American Pharmacy Association.

Allen is a principal with the Detroit law firm of Allen Brothers Attorneys and Counselors, PLLC. He received a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Michigan and also has a master’s degree in industrial relations from WSU. Allen is chairman of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce and has three sons and a daughter.

“We welcome both Mr. Allen and Mr. Fakih to the Foundation Board of Directors,” said HFCC Foundation Board Chairperson Millie Elston. “We are indeed fortunate to have them join us in our efforts to raise charitable support for HFCC. We look forward to, with their help, enhancing our fund-raising program to help meet the needs of HFCC, its students and the community.”
