Man uses stick to rob salon

July 5, 2009 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

ALLEN PARK — A robber who pretended to be armed made off with about $100 from Tantasia Tanning Salon, 8003 Allen, at 1:30 p.m. last Sunday.
An employee told police that a man entered the store, looked around, and asked her, “What’s the special?”
Before she could reply, the man opened his jacket and displayed what appeared to be a rifle hidden under a black long-sleeved shirt.
The man then shouted, “I’m gonna shoot this (gun) off and it’s going to be loud,” and told the employee to open the cash register.
After she opened the register, the man grabbed all the cash inside, about $100, and then asked the employee for her purse, which she gave him.
The man then told her to lie flat on the ground behind the counter and not to move for five minutes. He then fled out the front door in an unknown direction after dropping the black shirt and a stick he implied was a rifle.
Inside the employee’s purse was about $10 and several assorted credit cards.
She described the man as white, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing a dark blue hooded jacket, jeans, a blue knit cap and sunglasses.
