DEARBORN — Henry Ford Community College is helping keep the summer spirit alive on Fridays at the Dearborn Farmers and Artisan Market, presented by the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the college.
On Friday, those attending the market can find out about affordable, licensed child care programs offered at HFCC’s Child Development Center from Janice Cataldo, the center’s director.
On Sept. 25, the Student Activities Office will hold a voter registration drive and provide giveaways, with a special appearance by the college mascot, “Hawkster.”
The event also will feature family-oriented games and prizes. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is adjacent to Dearborn’s Bryant Branch Library, 22100 Michigan Ave.
HFCC will offer special activities and information each Friday at the market through Oct. 30.
Each Friday, representatives from the college’s Office of Enrollment Development will be available at the market to provide information about programs and services, especially programs focused on the future, such as biotechnology, alternative energy and health careers to prepare students for Michigan’s new economy. Information about HFCC programs for laid-off workers who qualify for the No Worker Left Behind state initiative also will be available.
The HFCC Office of Development and the HFCC Foundation help to raise funds to support the college’s academic programs. The college offers hundreds of scholarships yearly. To apply for a scholarship call (313) 845-9620 or visit www.hfcc.edu/scholarships.
Future HFCC activities on Fridays include the Criminal Justice program, Wellness at Work program, the Ice Carving Club and Nursing and Fire Sciences programs.
