RIVERVIEW – Road improvement and housing rehabilitation comprise the biggest portion of $128,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds that city officials hope to receive for 2010.

The CDBG program requires a public hearing to accept comments on the proposed allocations. Officials presented their proposals at Monday’s council meeting.

Road improvements would receive $66,000, followed by $40,000 for housing rehabilitation. The latter figure would incorporate $5,000 in estimated block grant program income.

Senior services is budgeted for a $13,700 allocation, while $4,000 was earmarked for The Guidance Center, which receives much of its funding from other sources. Administrative costs are budgeted at $9,300.

Councilwoman Betty Priskorn, who has ties to The Guidance Center, abstained from voting on items pertaining to its funding.
