DEARBORN – A variety of basic computer workshops will return to the Henry Ford Centennial Library, running from the end of January through mid-April.
Some are free of charge and some cost $25. Advanced registration is required.
The Basic Computers workshop is for people wishing to learn to use a computer for the first time. No computer knowledge or experience is required. It is offered on from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 3 and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 5.
Internet Basics, a workshop targeted toward those who already have basic computer skills but want to learn more specifically about how to search and use the Internet, will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 1, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 10 and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 12.
E-Mail Essentials, for people interested in learning how to establish and use their own e-mail account, will be offered 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 8, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 17 and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 19.
Introduction to Microsoft Word, an introductory word processing workshop, will be offered in two parts. The first session will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 22 and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 1. The second session will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 24 and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 3. A $25 fee is required. Basic computer mouse skills are required, but all fundamental Word skills will be covered in detail.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel, a workshop teaching basic skills in spreadsheet design and data input, also will be offered in two parts. The first session will be from from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 8 and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 15. The second session will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and from 4:30 from 7 p.m. March 17. A $25 fee is required. Basic computer and mouse skills are required.
Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint, which will teach students the basics of how to create their own presentations with text and graphics, also will be offered in two parts, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 22 and from 6 from 8:30 p.m. March 29. A $25 fee is required.
Registration for each class begins one week prior to the class meeting.
Workshops are limited to 12 seats.
