DEARBORN – Howe-Peterson Funeral Home welcomes the public to attend its free, nondenominational grief support groups at Hope Lutheran Church, 3640 Madison.
Helping Hands is for children ages 5 to 12 to share the experience of having lost a loved one. It offers a safe environment for communicating feelings and learning coping skills through creation of artwork, storytelling and group exercises. The group meets for seven Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning April 6.
Teen Connection is for people ages 13 to 17 and encourages them to work through their grief in a secure atmosphere. This group meets simultaneously with the adult group, Journey Though Grief, for six Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning April 13. In their meetings, adults share memories and work through the physical and emotional sides of grief.
“We are dedicated to providing a place where the healing can begin; where everyone in the community will find the support they need when they need it most,” Howe-Peterson president Kerrie Peterson said.
