DEARBORN — An 87-year-old woman died last week after authorities say she ran a red light and smashed into a fire truck.

Police identified the woman as Ann Iwaniec of Detroit.

According to officials, it appears that she disregarded a red light at Ford Road and Chase when she collided with the truck, which was returning from a service call. The accident caused severe damage to Iwaniec’s Chrysler PT Cruiser and the truck sustained minor damage.

No other injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
