Dearborn Senior Services hosts Personal Action Toward Health classes

April 17, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN – The Dearborn Senior Services is hosting a free, six-week health workshop on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Classes run April 22 to May 27.

These Personal Action Toward Health (PATH) classes are designed to provide knowledge and skills to adults with chronic health conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, asthma and depression.

The program is suited for both newly diagnosed patients, as well as those seeking more aggressive management.

Instructors explain ways to reduce pain and stress, cope with fatigue, use medications wisely and benefit from exercise.

PATH has been proven in studies to reduce symptoms and the number of physician visits, as well as increase self-management abilities and communication with doctors.

Registration is required and enrollment is limited.

To register or for more information, call Ruth Gagel at (313) 943-2034.
