Optimists honor top officers, firefighters

The Dearborn Optimist Club recognized several members of the Dearborn Fire and Police departments May 5 for their outstanding service to the community. Honorees are: John Boone (front row left), Firefighter of the Year; Timothy Mick, Fire Cadet of the Year; Post Sgt. Sarah Fiolek, Police Cadet of the Year; and Cpl. Frederick Thompson, Police Officer of the Year. On hand for the presentation are: Acting Fire Chief Dean Creech (back row left); Optimist Club President Barry Hawthorne; Bruce Harger, Lake Superior State University director of Public School Academy Operations; Wayne County Commissioner Gary Woronchak; City Councilwoman Suzanne Sareini; and Police Chief Ronald Haddad.
