Children’s author featured at Library Foundation fund-raiser

DEARBORN – The Dearborn Public Library Foundation will be host a lunch with Michigan children’s author Mark Crilley at noon Aug 21 at Park Place Catering 23400 Park.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased at any Dearborn Public Library or online until Aug. 12 at www.dearbornlibraryfoundation.org.

Crilley is the creator of more than 20 children’s books – including the popular “Akiko” series, which has sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide. His work has been honored by the American Library Association, featured in Entertainment Weekly, USA Today and on CNN Headline News.

At the lunch, Crilley will entertain the audience with live drawing demonstrations, readings in different voices and sound effects. He will also answer questions.

The lunch includes special Akiko fare, including “Only on Planet Smoo Hot Dogs,” “Akiko’s Favorite Chicken Strips” and “Spuckler’s Fried Tators,”as well as Park Place favorites.

The foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established for the purpose of benefiting, promoting and enhancing the Dearborn Public Library.
