July 24, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN — The Dearborn Summer Festival Chorus, directed by G. Kevin Dewey and sponsored by the Recreation Department, will be present a concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Michael A. Guido Theater at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

This 100-plus-voice mixed chorus will be featuring Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Coronation Mass.” In addition, a wide array of favorites from Broadway and Hollywood will include “There’s A Place For Us” from “West Side Story” and “Somewhere My Love” from “Dr. Zhivago.” Special guest artists include the Metro Jazz Voices.

Dewey has been conducting area choirs for more than 20 years and also brings to the podium experience as a professional vocal and instrumental performer, composer and arranger. He currently is director of choirs at Henry Ford Community College and the Vanguard Voices, which is a program of the Recreation Department and is choir-in-residence at HFCC.

General admission tickets for the concert are $5, and children ages 12 and under are free. Tickets are available from the Ford Center box office at 15801 Michigan Ave. or by calling (313) 943-2354.
