Cub Scout packs and Boy Scout troops from the Great Lakes Council, which covers all of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties, continue their 30-year fundraising tradition of selling popcorn to the public through Nov. 5 at public booth sales. On Oct. 9 Dearborn Cub Scouts Gabriel Dehn (second from left) an 8-year-old second-grader from Guardian Lutheran and Spencer Dickhudt (right) an 8-year-old third-grader from Haigh Elementary School and Guardian Lutheran Pack 1136 and their dads, Tony Dehn (left) and Dan Dickhudt (third from left,) enjoy the warm weather at their booth in front of Walgreens Pharmacy, 15450 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. Of the purchase price, 70 percent goes back to the Scout, his troop or pack and his council. This year’s sale features resealable bags, microwave popcorn with canola oil and microwave popcorn in boxes of 18 pouches each. Council officials say Scouts have every reason to believe that when their product goes on sale, the public will “eat it up.” For more information about Scouting or the popcorn sale, call the Dauch Scout Center in Detroit at (313) 897-1965 or go to www.glccouting.org.
