MELVINDALE – A preliminary examination of the evidence against Trevon Hampton originally scheduled for Monday was pushed back to tomorrow, but other witnesses have testified about their account of the night.

Detroit resident and Melvindale High School student Hampton, 17, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct – a 15-year felony – with a drunken 14-year-old Melvindale High girl early Oct. 3 at a homecoming dance after-party at Comfort Inn & Suites, 17600 Dix.

Hampton’s exam will be in 24th District Court in Allen Park next week, but the alleged rape victim testified Oct. 25, saying she drank an alcoholic energy drink, rum and cognac before going to the hotel.

Published reports said she told the court she had no memory of the sexual assault, but that her friend, 17-year-old Walter Williams, testified that he walked in on her twice while she was having sex with two 16-year-old boys, who are scheduled for a Nov. 11 arraignment in juvenile court on two counts of third-degree criminal sexual. Williams said the girl was awake when he walked in on the act.

Williams said he went to check on his friend again and saw Hampton standing at least three feet away from the bed with his pants down to his knees.

Warrants still are pending for two mothers who rented the hotel room. Additionally, police discovered three people, ages 17 to 20, who purchased alcohol for the party.
