DEARBORN – A resident died of a gunshot to the head while attempting to purchase a television the evening of Dec. 2.

Family members told Detroit police that Hassan Abdallah, 39, followed a former co-worker to Baylis Street, a few blocks east of the University of Detroit Mercy, to buy a TV from another man who was a mutual friend.

Instead of receiving a TV, Abdallah was shot and killed.

Police found him several hours later without the cash he had brought to purchase the TV. Family members have told multiple media outlets they believe the murder was a prearranged robbery scheme.

Family members gathered Dec. 3 outside Abdallah’s house in the 5500 block of Maple to mourn the death.

Abdallah owned a car wash on Livernois in Detroit and is survived by his four children.
