Woronchak names Webb chair of Public Safety Committee

January 22, 2011 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Wayne County Commissioner Diane Webb (D-Garden City) has been named by Commission Chairman Gary Woronchak (D-Dearborn) to head the commission’s Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary and Homeland Security.

Webb’s committee will review matters regarding the Sheriff’s Department; the Prosecutor’s Office; corporation counsel, community corrections, county clerk and the county courts, including circuit, probate and juvenile.

“Diane Webb is a very hard-working, hands-on commissioner,” Woronchak said in announcing her appointment. “She will do an outstanding job leading the public safety committee.”

Webb is starting her second two-year term as a commissioner for the 9th District, which includes Dearborn Heights, Garden City and Redford Township.

In addition to chairing Public Safety, Webb will serve on two standing committees: Audit and Government Operations. She’ll also chair a special Commission Task Force on Technology, and will serve as vice chairwoman for a Task Force on Ethics.
