Heights man charged in 2004 Detroit homicide

July 16, 2011 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

HEIGHTS – Resident Oussama Talal Othman was charged by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy July 11 in connection with the 2004 death of Dearborn resident Margaret Sheppard Webb.

About 10:30 a.m. March 26, 2004, 43-year-old Sheppard Webb was discovered dead in front of a house in the 2800 block of Scotten in Detroit. She had suffered severe head trauma and her torso was burned. DNA left at the scene pointed to Othman, 36.

Detroit Police spokesman Samuel Balogun declined to provide further details on the case because Othman is awaiting trial.

Othman has been charged with first degree murder, carrying a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole.

He was arraigned July 12 at 36th District Court in Detroit. A preliminary examination of the evidence against him had not been set at press time.
