Staff and students with the Special Needs Activities Program braved near-record heat Wednesday for a fund-raising car wash. Coordinator Erin Schwartz said the program, in conjunction with Trenton Parks and Recreation, provides Downriver special needs students with a six-week summer camp filled with activities, fun and friendship. The car wash, along with today’s charity bowl from 3 to 4 p.m. at Taylor Lanes, 24800 Eureka Road, supports the group’s planned overnight camping trip to Port Huron. This year’s SNAP camp includes 29 students ages 10 to 26, who joined the 10 staffers for Wednesday’s car wash.
