During a Veteran’s Day ceremony Nov. 11 in the Dearborn City Council Chambers, Richard Fleek was honored by the Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council as the Veteran of the Year. Fleek, who served in the U.S. Navy in active duty and the naval reserves from 1985 through 1992, was presented with plaques and certificates from city and state officials. He was chosen for his efforts to help veterans improve their quality of life, and was involved in honoring veterans who died without resources and whose remains were left in Dearborn funeral homes.
