ALLEN PARK – A 19-year-old Ecorse man awaits a preliminary examination of the evidence against him on charges of attempted arson after allegedly attempting to blow up his former girlfriend’s house April 5.

Martin Michael Wallace Eagle was arraigned April 7 before Judge Richard Page in Allen Park’s 24th District Court after he was arrested for manufacture and possession of explosives, arson and attempted arson about noon March 5 walking north on the Southfield Service Drive.

The former girlfriend called 911 shortly before noon that day after hearing something hit the front of her house in the 1700 block of Hanover. She found a clear plastic bottle containing a substance believed to be gasoline and a rag, in the front of the house.

According to police reports, the woman had received several text messages from Eagle threatening to burn down her house in the past few months.

A pat-down of Eagle revealed a blue lighter in his pants pocket. He also emitted a strong odor of gasoline, according to the report.

A preliminary examination of the evidence against Eagle is scheduled for April 16.
