Everyone was invited to the 10th birthday party of Lincoln Park Library’s mascot Sparkie the Frog Tuesday, an after-school celebration featuring cake, ice cream and frog-themed crafts. A longtime fixture atop the checkout desk, Sparkie greets party guests including Elizabeth McNaughton (left), 6; Emma Sturgis, 4; and Evelyn McNaughton, 4. The library is preparing this week to open its April Used Book Sale to the public beginning Saturday and running through April 30. A preview for Friends of the Library will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
