DEARBORN — The Snow Branch Library will be up for sale after closing Sept. 2, because of city budget cuts. The city is looking for bidders interested in the property to bid by Aug. 29.
The sale price for the library, 23950 Princeton at Telegraph Road in southwest Dearborn, is listed at $590,000. The library opened in 1960.
The three remaining branches of the Dearborn Public Libraries include The Henry Ford Centennial Library, Bryant Branch Library and Esper Branch Library.
A reciprocal borrowing agreement between the city and Dearborn Heights took effect March 1, 2011; residents can use Caroline Kennedy Library and John F. Kennedy Jr. Library in Dearborn Heights.
The 12,000-square-foot building and the 25,340-square-foot parking lot costs the city about $250,000 annually.
City attorney Licia Yangouyian said the city won’t be open for bids until 3 p.m. Aug. 29.
Sale earnings will go toward the city’s general budget.
