DEARBORN — The Taste of Dearborn East was cancelled because of a lack of attendance, Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce Director of Events Peggy Richard said.
She said the chamber didn’t want to have restaurants in east Dearborn prepare extra food and not have anyone to serve them to.
The event was scheduled for Sept. 19. and required purchased wristbands; Richard said about six people signed up. The event was to feature food samples from 12 area restaurants.
Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce President Jennifer Giering declined to comment on the event cancellation.
Richard said a second Food Truck Rally is still scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Friday so people can still indulge in various foods.
The Food Truck Rally, hosted by the Michigan Mobile Food Truck Association, will take place in Lot C, north of Pizza Papalis and west of Monroe Street; the rally partners with the city of Dearborn, the chamber and the West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority.
Attendees can expect about 10 trucks selling food priced from $4 to $7. Some food trucks include Franks Anatra, Concrete Cuisine, Treat Dreams, Ned’s, Mack Shack, El Guappo, PPC and Jacques Tacos.
