Traffic incident kills pedestrian

DEARBORN β€” A 90-year-old Dearborn woman died Friday after a 72-year-old Detroit man struck her with his vehicle while she walked on Hubbard Drive near Fairlane Woods Drive, according to a city press release.

According to the release, about 5:45 a.m. the man, driving a Dodge Neon, struck the woman, who was transported to Oakwood Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim or suspect.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, but according to the release, β€œIt appears at this time that the collision was accidental and neither drugs nor alcohol were involved.”

In the release, Police Chief Ronald Haddad expressed his sympathy and concern for the individuals involved.
