Ecorse Creek getting annual clean up Saturday

April 14, 2013 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

HEIGHTS — The Dearborn Heights Watershed Stewards Commission will host the 20th anniversary of the Ecorse Creek Clean Up Saturday.

The clean-up will be held at Swapa Park, near the Richard Young Recreation Center, and registration takes place between 8:30 and 9 a.m.

A hot dog lunch will be served at noon, after which attendees may walk around the three city rain gardens at the RYRC.

Volunteers also will have a chance to purchase 60-gallon rain barrels at the event. The barrels are tied to a downspout and collect rainwater coming off a roof. The water can then be reused to wash cars or water plants.

For pre-registration or more information, call 313-274-3144.
