Dearborn — Dr. Hussein A. Saad, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, is now on staff at Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center.
Saad returns to his hometown as the newest addition to Michigan Orthopedic Specialists, a six-physician group that provides orthopedic services for patients of all ages. With a special interest in sports-medicine-related injuries, Saad is seeing patients at the group’s Dearborn office.
Besides sports medicine, Saad’s clinical interests include arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, rotator cuff repair and ligament reconstruction of the knee and elbow.
“I take both a surgical and non-surgical approach to patient care, making sure to involve all team members — athletic trainers, physical therapists and coaches — in the treatment process,” Saad said.
Saad received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he earned academic honors for three consecutive years. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where he earned the Outstanding Resident Teacher Award from the Orthopedic Trauma Association.
In 2012 and 2013, Saad completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. There, he worked with professional and collegiate-level athletes from teams including the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians, John Carroll University and Cleveland State University.
Saad is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Michigan Orthopedic Society and the Detroit Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
