Trash pickup on routine schedule on Veterans Day

November 10, 2013 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Loose leaf collection will follow normal schedule

DEARBORN – Trash collection will be on a routine schedule Nov. 11 to 15 despite the federal holiday of Veterans Day on Monday.

Residents should put out their trash and yard waste as normal Nov. 11 to 15, and households designated as Recycling Week A should follow their usual schedule.

In addition, city crews will pick up loose leaves in the street, per the established process. Crews will collect leaves raked into the street on trash days in areas that do not recycle Nov. 11 to 15. Households should rake leaves into the street as close to trash day as possible if not recycling Nov. 11 to 15.

Leaves raked too early into the street can cause safety hazards. Leaves in bags or proper containers will be picked up every week on trash day.

City Hall, 19th District Court, libraries and the senior center will be closed on Veterans Day. The Ford Community & Performing Arts Center will be open, as will the Dearborn Ice Skating Center.

The city’s Veterans Day ceremony will be inside the Council Chambers at City Hall, 13615 Michigan Ave., at 11 a.m. on Monday. The public is invited.
