DEARBORN — A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a train while crossing railroad tracks near the intersection of Greenfield and Tireman just before 1 a.m. Aug. 19.

According to published reports, emergency dispatchers in Dearborn received notification about 12:50 a.m. and sent a rescue team to investigate a report that a bicyclist had been struck by a CSX train at the intersection.

The intersection is the divider between Dearborn and Detroit, and emergency teams from both cities responded to the incident.

Detroit police officers responded and secured the scene while emergency workers from Dearborn transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The name and age of the victim have not been released by police.
