LINCOLN PARK — Police are looking for two men responsible for a break-in, attempted robbery, assault and gunshots that left a family dog wounded and barely missed striking a man.
According to police reports, early Monday morning two women were watching TV in the living room of their house in the 1400 block of Hanford Street when two men broke in. The women had left the front door open, and shortly after 2 a.m. a man opened the screen door, walked in and pointed a revolver at one of the women.
“Give me the money,” he said. The woman began to scream for her husband, who was upstairs with his daughter the family dog.
The intruder — described as a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, medium height, heavy-set and wearing glasses — hit the woman in the mouth with the weapon, knocking out a front tooth.
The woman’s husband appeared on the staircase, and the intruder fired a round which struck the dog in the face.
The man fired another round before running out the front door. The second man had not entered the home any further than the entry, and was wearing a mask during the incident.
The woman was treated by Health Link paramedics at the scene; the dog was taken to Affiliated Veterinary Hospital in Allen Park for further treatment. No further information was available last week.
Police searched the area for evidence, obtained descriptions of the men and weapon, a silver revolver with a long barrel, and are investigating.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lincoln Park police at 313-381-1800.
